What Is Silicone?

Silicone is a synthetic elastomer built on a silicon-oxygen backbone. In graded card protection, silicone’s value is its consistent flexibility across a wide temperature range, soft-touch feel, and ability to cushion impact without transferring stress to the slab surface.

Why Silicone Is Used for Graded Card Protection

Graded slabs are rigid, heavy packages. When stacked, stored or shipped, the corners of each slab take the most stress. Silicone bumpers and corner guards absorb that stress and prevent direct slab-to-slab contact.
