From Design to Delivery: The Full Process
Every graded card protection program — standard catalog product or custom OEM/ODM — follows the same nine-stage process. Each stage has defined outputs, buyer visibility points, and quality checkpoints.
01 Design
Technical notes: The product is engineered around the graded slab footprint. For standard products this starts from a proven base model; for custom programs it starts from your requirements — slab dimensions, target materials, protection level, intended retail positioning and price point.
Outputs: 2D/3D CAD models, material recommendation, draft specification sheet.
Buyer concern: Will the product actually fit the slabs we carry? Dimensional compatibility must be confirmed at design stage, not after tooling.
Quality checkpoints: Design review against fit requirements; clearance defined and recorded; specification sheet issued before tooling.
02 Prototype
Technical notes: Functional samples are produced before any production tooling. Prototyping validates fit, material behavior (flexibility, transparency, hardness), and assembly method. For TPU and silicone parts this may use prototype tooling or machined samples depending on the material.
Outputs: Physical samples for fit testing and evaluation.
Buyer concern: Send us your actual slab samples — or your measurements — so the prototype is verified against real-world fit, not assumed dimensions.
Quality checkpoints: Sample fit test against reference slabs; dimensional measurement recorded; buyer approval before mold development.
03 Mold & Tooling Development
Technical notes: Production molds are developed once the prototype is approved. Mold design determines part consistency, cycle time, and surface finish quality. Cavity count is balanced against order volume and lead time.
Outputs: Production-grade molds and tooling; first article samples.
Buyer concern: Ask for the first article (T0/T1 samples) and verify dimensions against your specification before full production.
Quality checkpoints: First article inspection (FAI) with full dimensional report; mold trial records; acceptance criteria agreed with buyer.
04 Material Selection & Incoming QC
Technical notes: Raw materials — TPU, silicone, PMMA/acrylic, aluminum alloy, magnets, glass — are verified against specification on every lot. Material certification and test reports are maintained for traceability.
Outputs: Approved material lots released to production.
Buyer concern: Confirm which materials are specified for your program and request material test reports (hardness, clarity, RoHS/REACH compliance) where required.
Quality checkpoints: Incoming quality control (IQC) on every material lot; certificate verification; quarantine and disposition of non-conforming lots.
05 Production
Technical notes: Parts are produced by the matching process for the material: injection molding for TPU, compression molding for silicone, stamping/CNC for metal, CNC cutting and edge finishing for acrylic. Production is MES-tracked with per-batch traceability.
Outputs: In-process parts with batch records.
Buyer concern: Ask about per-batch traceability and in-process sampling so you can trace any issue back to a specific production batch.
Quality checkpoints: In-process quality audits (IPQC) during production; dimensional and visual checks at defined intervals; process parameters recorded.
06 Finishing & Assembly
Technical notes: Surface finishing (anodizing, PVD coating, laser engraving, color matching) and assembly (magnetic closure systems, glass panels, branding elements) are performed in-house. Assembly brings multiple parts together into the finished protector.
Outputs: Completed protectors ready for inspection.
Buyer concern: Verify finish consistency — color matching across batches and logo quality — early, because finishing defects are hard to correct after assembly.
Quality checkpoints: Assembly process checks; finish acceptance samples per batch; function checks (closure retention, magnet strength where applicable).
07 Inspection
Technical notes: Finished goods undergo inspection against the agreed specification: dimensional accuracy, surface quality, material properties, and packaging. Inspection levels follow the quality plan agreed at order stage.
Outputs: Approved finished goods; inspection records.
Buyer concern: Agree the inspection level (full inspection vs. AQL sampling) and defect criteria before production begins, and keep the same criteria for every order.

08 Packaging
Technical notes: Products are packaged to the agreed specification — retail-ready packaging, private label boxes, or bulk export packaging. Packaging design protects the product in transit and supports your retail presentation.
Outputs: Packaged products ready for shipment.
Buyer concern: Confirm packaging drop test expectations and private label artwork requirements early; packaging errors are the most common rework item in volume orders.
Quality checkpoints: Packaging QC on each carton; label and barcode verification; carton strength and quantity checks against packing list.
09 Final QC & Shipping
Technical notes: Outgoing quality control (OQC) verifies the final packed shipment against the order: quantities, packaging, labels, and documentation. Shipment is arranged per the agreed Incoterms with export documentation.
Outputs: Released shipment with complete documentation.
Buyer concern: Request per-stage photos or videos (raw material, machining, assembly, QC) to verify progress without visiting the factory.
Quality checkpoints: OQC inspection; shipping documents verified; container/carton seal and inventory records.
