Graded Card Slab Dimensions: PSA, BGS, CGC, SGC & TAG Fit Guide
Every grading company uses its own slab footprint. Here is how to verify fit before you order protection, and why a physical sample beats any dimension table.
Graded card slabs look similar at a glance, but PSA, BGS, CGC, SGC and TAG holders each have their own footprint, edge geometry and label structure. A protector that is “universal” on paper can be loose on one slab and too tight on another. This guide explains what actually matters for fit, and the verification workflow we use on every project.
Why slab fit is not one-size-fits-all
Three things define whether protection fits correctly:
- External footprint — the overall width, height and depth of the holder. This is what most dimension tables show.
- Edge geometry — corners, radius and seam position. A protector sized to the outer footprint can still rock or pinch if edges differ.
- Label structure — single-grade vs sub-grade labels sit at different heights. Protect clear covers can rub against a raised label area.
Published holder dimensions are a useful starting point, but production runs vary between grading companies and even between batches. That is why every TOP project verifies fit against the actual slab version before volume production.
